Isn’t this the cutest ad for a book? The wonderful Joy Chu created it for my stop on her blog, The Got Story Countdown, today. This is the final stop on my Writing Young Adult Fiction For Dummies Blog Tour, and Joy got me talking about one of my fondest publishing memories: making 4 life-size wooden men to travel the country to promote The Journey of Oliver K. Woodman by Darcy Pattison and Illustrator Joe Cepeda. I even dug up some old pictures of me and my dear husband at work on the Olivers. Fun!
And speaking of fun, my month-long party celebrating the publication of Writing Young Adult Fiction For Dummies may be coming to an end with today’s visit on The Got Story Countdown, but I’ve still got one final event up my sleeve: a FREE webinar with author/illustrator Katie Davis tomorrow, July 27. I’m very excited about teaming up with Katie for “Translating Rejection Letter Lingo: What To Do about a ‘Flat’ Story.” Seriously, this webinar is not to be missed—Katie has planned some seriously fab visuals. I hope you’ll stop by to hear my advice and take part in listener Q-and-A. [Register here.]
Phew! A week-long virtual book launch, an 8-stop blog tour, a free webinar, book and ‘free edit’ giveaways, and a dozen interviews, podcasts, and guest posts on others’ blogs. . . . It’s been a busy month, but I believe every new book deserves a party. I hope you’ve enjoyed mine.
Deborah I just received my copy in the mail and am very much looking forward to reading it. Thanks again for the wonderful and generous giveaway–there is a shortage of really strong YA specific writing books out there, so its great that you teamed up with the Dummies books to create this.

Thanks for your kind words, Angela. Hope you enjoy it!
Sounds sooo awesome :0)
That’s an adorable ad for your book! You’ve had quite a month. What an awesome launch for your new book. I’m so excited because I won an Amazon gift card in a contest on Twitter, so yesterday I bought the Kindle version of your book. I’m so jazzed to have all that valuable info in my hands now. Woo hoo! I’m signed up for your webinar and am looking forward to it, but I don’t have a headphone, so I’m not sure how that will work with just the mic on my Mac. This will be my first webinar, so I need to figure out how it works! I’m heading over to Joy’s site. And I’d love to see pics of those life-size wooden men that you and your hubby made.
🙂 Kittens make everything more fun! Such a cute ad! Congratulations on your newest book. I’m so excited about your webinar tomorrow. 🙂
