Another Found!
I know this would be the stuff of nightmares for most people, but I can’t help it: I am thrilled to report that a cockroach fell from the top of our living room window when I opened the blinds today. Yay, Escaped Pet Madagascar Hissing Cockroach #2 has returned home!
I wonder if he’s been hanging out next to the cage this whole time? I certainly scoured that area the first day he disappeared. Maybe he came back because he missed his buddies in the cage? Or maybe he missed regular meals? He’s awfully scrawny compared to his friends who stayed in the cage where food is served to them on a platter–or rather, on an old Tupperware lid.
This is a good day. My sons are excited, and that makes me excited. I am also excited that we have just one escapee still on the loose—because, all chuckling aside, I may not find this to be the stuff of nightmares, but I would feel better knowing there were no stray cockroaches roaming my house ready to fall down upon me at any time. I may be a supportive mother, but I’m not crazy. Pet cockroaches really are best when they are locked in their cage.

Hurray! Two down, one to go. Yes… captive is much better than rogue wanderer… whew.
